Draw between Slovenia and Austria Amateur Selections

The newly formed Amateur National Selections of Slovenia and Austria met in a additional International Friendly Match in Ljubljana on Tuesday afternoon and ended in a draw.

The Austrians won the first leg - as part of the revival of Amateur National Selections after 40 years - 1-0 in November in Klagenfurt. This time there was a 1-1 draw in the return match in Ljubljana in Slovenia.

Austria better, but Slovenia scores

The match was lively from the start. Austria is initially visually superior, but a shot on goal by Christoph Kobald was blocked. In general, the Austrians try to use long-range shots, which, however, do not lead to success. But you keep getting dangerously close to the opponent's goal. The Slovenians' offside trap was caught twice before the hosts came into the penalty area and were awarded a penalty in the 35th minute. The Slovenians convert the penalty. But Austria was not deterred by the deficit. Kobald immediately tries a shot, but the ball misses the goal. The first half ends with a half chance for the Slovenians.

Austria equalizes

In the second half, the Slovenians was generally more aggressive. This time it was the Austrians who scored. And it shouldn't take long before the balance falls. Austria's Christoph Kobald made it 1-1 in the 60th minute - he was played in the penalty area and hit the corner nicely. This means everything was open again and the guests remain in control. Both coaches subsequently made changes to bring new momentum into the match, but in the end it remained a 1-1 draw.
