After summer is before winter. The AMATEURS EUROFED CUP 2024 with 4 or 6 amateur national teams is scheduled to take place from 1 to 4 December 2024, after it was postponed in the summer.
It turns out that finding a common framework schedule for matches and tournaments for amateur national teams is more difficult than was planned after the revival in November 2023 and April 2024. The championship ends and winter breaks in the different countries differ too much in the semi-pro leagues and the highest amateur leagues from which the best amateur players are recruited. In addition, it is complicated by the fact that amateur team players have championships and cup matches in their clubs and also have to attend to their work, studies, etc. in their private lives. It is also almost impossible to find free dates at the beginning or during the week to release players for three, four or five days.
Nevertheless, the IFU-INTERREG FOOTBALL UNION initiators of the Amateur National Teams Back on/to Stage activities are not being dissuaded in order to move forward the expansion and further development of the Amateur National Teams format this year. With a minimum of 4 amateur national teams and in the best case there will be even 6 nations, the AMATEURS EUROFED CUP 2024 has now been rescheduled for December 1st to 4th, 2024. It seems late and is in the first week of Advent, but compared to Germany and Italy, where the semi-pro leagues and top amateur leagues are played until just before Christmas, it is still relatively early. The southern cities of Koper, Gorica in Slovenia and Lignano and Udine in Italy are planned as venues in the tri-border region of Austria-Italy-Slovenia. If weather conditions and temperatures permit, Klagenfurt in Austria will probably also be a venue for an amateur international match again.
